The Victoria was built in 1888 as a residential mansion. For nearly the next century ownership and occupancy of the house passed through several prominent local families. In 1984 the residence was purchased by a developer and added to the National Historic Register. The house that would be forever associated with Kitty Knight was built overlooking the Sassafras river on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the late 1700's.
